About Us

Burnley Mountaineering Club was formed in 1952 and has been the mainstay of fellwalkers in North East Lancashire ever since.

The club welcomes anybody who is interested in the outdoors to join; whether their interest be rambling, mountaineering, climbing, photography or bird watching. All age groups and abilities are welcome, as are both families and individuals.

Whether you live in Padiham, Burnley, Brierfield, Nelson, Colne, Barrowford, Barnoldswick, Gisburn or somewhere in between, our coaches will pick you up near at hand. Please click here for our pickup points.

Our main activity is monthly coach meets, usually on the third Sunday of the month. Primarily these trips visit the Lake District although several times a year we venture to other areas suchs as the Yorkshire Dales, North Wales, Derbyshire and occasionally the Scottish Borders. Although we have a number of climbers and ramblers amongst us it is the fellwalker who will gain most from these meets and the coach offers even the most experienced the opportunity to do linear walks and routes that may not otherwise have been tried.
